How to sort lines

  1. Paste your list into the top box, one item per line.
  2. Choose an order. The sorted list appears below as you type.
  3. Copy or download the result. For random order, click Sort again to shuffle once more.

Sorting options explained

  • A → Z / Z → A – alphabetical order using the rules of your browser’s language, so accented letters such as é, ñ and ü are sorted where you expect them.
  • Natural order – “Item 2” comes before “Item 10”. Without it, text is compared character by character and “Item 10” comes first.
  • Case-sensitive – when off, “apple” and “Apple” are treated as equal for sorting and for removing duplicates.
  • Shortest / longest first – sorts by the number of characters in each line.
  • Random – shuffles the lines with a secure random generator. Handy for drawing names or mixing quiz questions.

FAQ

Can I sort numbers?

Yes. With natural order on, a list of numbers such as 3, 25, 100 sorts by value. Decimal numbers with different numbers of digits may not sort exactly by value; pad them first if you need strict numeric order.

Is my list sent anywhere?

No. Sorting runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded or saved.
