Diff Checker

Compare two texts and see added and removed lines or words highlighted. Free online text compare tool; nothing is uploaded.

How to compare two texts

  1. Paste the original version on the left and the changed version on the right.
  2. The differences appear below automatically (or click Compare).
  3. Lines or words that were added are shown in green with a +; removed ones are shown in red with a −.

Lines or words?

  • Lines – best for code, configuration files, lists and CSV data. Each changed line is shown with its line number in the original (left column) and the changed text (right column).
  • Words – best for essays, articles, contracts and emails, where one long paragraph may have only a few words changed. Changes are highlighted inside the text.

Ignore case treats “Hello” and “hello” as equal, and Ignore whitespace hides changes that are only spaces, tabs or indentation.

FAQ

Is my text uploaded to a server?

No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser, which makes it safe for private documents, contracts and source code.

How does it find the differences?

It uses the Myers diff algorithm, the same approach used by Git, which finds the smallest set of additions and deletions that turns the original into the changed text.
