How to use the calculator

  2. The answer appears under your calculation as you type. Press = or Enter to keep it, then continue calculating with it.

Your calculations are listed under History. Click one to bring its result back. The history is kept only while this page is open.

Order of operations

The calculator follows the standard order of operations: multiplication and division come before addition and subtraction, so 2 + 3 × 4 is 14, not 20. Use parentheses to change the order: (2 + 3) × 4 is 20.

How percentages work

  • 50 × 20% = 10, which is 20% of 50.
  • 80 + 15% = 92, which is 80 plus 15% of 80. Handy for tips and sales tax.
  • 200 − 25% = 150, which is 200 with a 25% discount.
